The entire forums have gone to pot people back stabbing, small minded & petty, arguing and making this place a horrible place to come to I rarely visit here any more as can't be bothered trudging through a war zone. And also moderators removing messages that don't need to be removed. I had a message today to say a post of mine from 62 days ago had been removed as it was off topic!! As to why it was off topic I do not know, as my reply was to someone letting them know I couldn't view the webpage they were talking about and would try later. The entire forums have gone to pot ... And also moderators removing messages ... from 62 days ago Both of these issues are related to some degree. The first situation has resulted from a large influx of new users in a very short time and the inability of the moderation team to keep up with the work load, to calm things down. I deleted your post because it was a part of the tips and tricks sticky on the number crunching board. The nature of the message was short term and transient information. I deleted it because I am doing some housecleaning that has been left undone for some time, and I am reorganizing things a bit. I think we can agree that the post was neither a tip or a trick to running R@H, and certainly after 62 days the SETI thread you were trying to view has been up long enough to have seen it. So basically the message was in the wrong place in that sticky to begin with, and in any case the content is now irrelevant. These are the kinds of things I am cleaning up as I try to put the boards in order so you won't have to wade through a lot of posts to find what you might want to see. Obviously I can't promise you won't see this kind of thing again. In fact I can almost assure you that you will. I am sorry if this has caused a problem. Not a problem for me but I think it may become a problem a board that is heavily regulated like that where a Mod goes through and starts removing stuff is due to get some backlash I dont mind posts been removed because they have words in that shouldn't be used but for any other reason that I think will cause a problem Join us in Chat (see the forum) Click the Sig Join UBT |

Obviously I can't promise you won't see this kind of thing again. In fact I can almost assure you that you will. I am sorry if this has caused a problem. Nobody is conducting wholesale deletions, certainly not me. As I said this was to clean a specific sticky, designed for a specific purpose of old off topic posts. That said there will be an effort to clean the older posts that contain some colorful language when there is time to do that sort of work. Moderator9 ROSETTA@home FAQ Moderator Contact |

I think we can expect to see wholesale deletions from sticky threads - but very few deletions from normal threads. The whole point of a sticky is to keep important info handy. That does not work if there is long discussion. Threads which are sticky and need the info to be kept (like "report bad WU here") need to be re-started at intervals for the same reason. I also feel that one of the forums now has too many stickies to be useful - hopefully mod9's work is still in progress and we will shrink back down to a more manageable number in dure course. I think we can expect to see wholesale deletions from sticky threads - but very few deletions from normal threads. You have stated the situation very well. The movement and deletion of posts IS concentrated on the stickys, and the number of them will shrink very soon. That is NOT to say that movement and deletion will never occur elsewhere, but keeping the stickys clean is a priority now. Thanks for the insight Moderator9 ROSETTA@home FAQ Moderator Contact |

I also think that the stickies in Numbers have become confused. And a thread to David Kim about reporting No Work from Project is not sticky?! EDIT: I mean this one: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=964 "I'm trying to maintain a shred of dignity in this world." - Me |

It also appears at first glance that the volume of posting has dropped considerably since the latest mod has appeared. Most of the posts seem to be his/hers. And I agree - the stickies are hopelessly garbled now - can't read them in any kind of sensible order, and there are way too many. Items like the forum software bug that hides the "report this post" 'x' and the that the "report this posts" dosn't even work if you can find the 'x' are buried in a non-sticky resolved issue thread in the Cafe forum. I don't know about you, but I don't look to the Cafe for information about project status or serious forum problems - or anything srious for that matter! My personal opinion is that the 'moderation' has gone well past what is acceptable and is now heavy-handed censorship. The threads are only allowed to keep what he/she thinks people should see. That is the definition of censorship, and has no place in an open discussion forum. I have no issues with mods calming down flame wars, or deleting offensive or obscene posts, but completely changing the culture and openness of the forum discussions is over the line. I think I'm joining Paul for a while - anywhere but here. Proudly Banned from Predictator@Home and now Cosmology@home as well. Added SETI to the list today. Temporary ban only - so need to work harder :) "You can't fix stupid" (Ron White) |

All forum have been exceptionally quiet for the past 2-3 days, it`s not unusiual for this to happen. Hopefully if it`s happening here it means people have less technical problems. Not all Czech`s bounce but I`d like to try with Barbar ;-) Make no mistake This IS the TEDDIES TEAM. |

It also appears at first glance that the volume of posting has dropped considerably since the latest mod has appeared. I'd never thought that day would come, where I agree with Angus ;-) but yes, the mods can take all the fun out of a board! And I'm afraid this point is close... :-( "I'm trying to maintain a shred of dignity in this world." - Me |

Oh no they haven`t I have no idea of what British pantomime is. The only pantomime I'm familiar with is Comedia dell'Arte with Arlechinno, Columbina, Pulcinella, Pantalone, Scarramuccia, and all the other figures... So you think I won't get a mail within the next half hour notifying me that this post has been removed? That we still can play around here? That would be nice... Or what????
