I noticed that the name to one of the workunits was..

"NO RANDOM WTS OR FRAGS"

I have to admit.. being a MMORPG fan.. I nearly fell on my ass when I finally let it set in.

Any chance of a link for the as yet unenlightened?

Odd as it may seem to you fans, I would't know a MMORPG if I saw one.

In First Person Shooter (FPS) games - frags/fragging has to do with killing your opponents. (Examples of FPS are Counter Strike, BattleField 1942, etc) What's the "No Random WTS" refer to? Horrible to see abbreviations I'm not familar with. *grin*

Random WTS = Want To Sell.

Also akin to WTB = Want To Buy

There is a problem in MMORPG's where people will communicate with everyone randomly with "WTS - Holy Shield - 5000k interested?"

FFXI doesn't really have this problem, but most others do.

I finally get the joke. RANDOM_WTS_FRAG means blocking random pop-up ads yes?

Let's hope that there isn't some completely scientific reason for the names and we're not all cracked out of our minds making up reasons for the terminology.. Won't I feel silly!

Does the scheduler know I ate too much over Christmas or was it just a lucky guess?

It just sent me an exercise bike!

I ran across this quote from David Baker:
We've given the different strategies names like INCREASE_CYCLES_10 (which means do 10x more searching at the low resolution stage) and MORE_FRAGS_W_BARCODE (which means give each computer specific but different instructions on the building blocks to use in the low resolution structure). There are ten different strategies being tested. I won't know which are the best methods until the new year, but you might be able to guess by looking at the course of the folding runs on the screensaver.

in this thread: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=684

I have to say that I liked the idea of the names being based on weird humour.. *sniff*
