This thread is to celebrate milestones in your contribution to Rosetta, to BOINC, or to Distibuted Computing in general; and to congratulate others on theirs.

Doesn't matter what the milestone is, if it gives you a buzz, celebrate it here!

And of course I'm going to be the first!

Ive just got above 10,000th place in all my projects, based on the total credit figures from BOINC-stats. So all my positions are in four figures (or less).

Next goal - get above 1000th place (ie into 3 figures) on Rosetta while there are still few enough people to make it easy ;-)

10,000 Rosetta. :-) Of course, I'm _stuck_ there, until I get my Rosetta box back from the shop...

As for still being easy - I was above 500 for a while. Then all these FaD people showed up. Sliding down the rankings ever since!

Just clicked over 3K for Rosetta and 1K for Predictor (although Predictors share will be dropping in the future) and got my first credits for SZTAKI and SIMAP. Just waiting on my first credits for uFluids (I was in the project joined mode the other day.

Party Time!

Well that was easier than I thought - just got into 3 figs on my Rosetta rank and into 5 figs on Rosetta credit. And heading for 6 figs BOINC overall by the end of the year.

Makes me feel a bit better - all those dodgy wu can't have been doing me as much harm as they felt like :-)

And then I read Paul D Buck's aim to get a third project larger than SETI, so I just got me 6 projects ahead of SETI ;-)

Nice going River. I stopped doing Boinc after I reached 100k in seti and moved to Folding@home. I now have 4 computers on Rosetta and a dualie on Folding. Do you think any project will get more users than SETI? Off to get off topic there :os

unlikely - SETI still attracts about 3x as many newcomers every day as the nearest rival. With more and more projects sprouting, people who are attracted by being part of science fiction will go to SETI, people who want real science will be split amongst the other projects. Of course if SETI finds anything I will have to eat my words... and hats off to SETI for giving us all BOINC in the first place.

Even if SETI do find anything, what are we going to do?

The idea of trying to hold a conversation with someone a couple of hundred light years away is not exactly what I'd call practical. :/

well if the aliens use computers, get them crunching Rosetta

Would have had 75K total BOINC and 12K Rosetta at midnight, but was just a _few_ WUs short... 49 more credits would have done both. Oh well, will have 'em by noon!

EDIT:: Yep, had them by 12:00 UTC even!

Then it was still 2005 somewhere up by the dateline, Alaska maybe? :-)

Congratulations - I guess this means your box came back from the brane surgeon OK?

I was looking at the sig, and it lags behind reality - I probably had enough by midnight _my_ time, just was doing other things at that hour... ;-)

Yes, PC is back w/ second new power supply in a week, and a $20 POS video card thanks to the first PS that died and took the fan on the good video card with it. Did some Rosetta on the Mac Mini though in the meantime; couldn't let my RAC here fall to nothing! Over the holidays I put BOINC Menubar and Rosetta on my father's antique iMac - but it still hasn't returned even one result... don't think that one is going to boost my credits by much! (If it even can make the deadlines, as little as he uses the machine.) Tempted to give him a new Mini for his birthday this month, but don't have the spare $ for that, and he doesn't really _need_ any more than he has...

50.000 BOINC overall very early 2006 (or probably _very_ late 2005, cant say for sure :P)

next personal goals are 10.000 rosetta and einstein (and a new pc, but my money situation sucks)
