Poem@home display Wu and use GPU ? like Folding@home ? There have been many, MANY requests for a gpu version but that would require extensive reprogramming and the benefits currently do not outweigh the disadvantages. A gpu only has x amount of ram to put the workunit into, the cpu can use all of the system memory though, to make the workunit fit into the gpu memory would severely limit the amount of crunching gets done in each workunit, extending the project ALOT!!! As for the display being like Poem's, no idea don't crunch there. |

There are many request because everyone see that GPU is 7-8 times faster then cpu's... |

There are many request because everyone see that GPU is 7-8 times faster then cpu's... You are taking apples and oranges and trying to combine them without coming up with a salad. Just because it works one place does not mean it will work everyplace. Rosetta HAS looked at using gpu's and has decided that it will not help for what they do. They also said they would periodically review that decision but so far they have not changed their minds. |

There are many request because everyone see that GPU is 7-8 times faster then cpu's... That used to be... ;) I'm living in a world where a top single Ati GPU is ~16 times faster then intel's i7 980 Extreme. Nothing is impossible, they just have to try it out. |

There are many request because everyone see that GPU is 7-8 times faster then cpu's... I'll bet if you offer your expertise on the subject and show them how it can be done they will listen to you! But as of right now they have alot of experts already looking at it and have determined it will not work any better than what they are already doing. |

With that point of view, in the mid centuries the church said: Burn the damned heretics for saying the earth is round... |

NO you said "That used to be... ;) I'm living in a world where a top single Ati GPU is ~16 times faster then intel's i7 980 Extreme. Nothing is impossible, they just have to try it out." I interpreted that to mean that you had some kind of special expertise that the programmers at Rosie do not have and that they could use your help if you but offered it! In the experts opinion at Rosetta it is not faster or better, but hey if you can show them it is go for it! The problem with making changes in the Middle Ages is that those in power had a vested interest in the status quo, Rosie has no interest in crunching slower than is possible. If they can crunch faster than they will certainly attempt to make it happen! What they are saying, and they HAVE researched and tried it, is that due to the way Rosie works it is NOT faster trying to crunch their data on a gpu right now! They did NOT rule out using a gpu in the future, they have just said it makes no sense right now! |

Because no matter we are volunteering on all those projects, finally someone else will have the big money for our efforts ;) And from what you are saying about those experts, for me it looks that way: -If we have turtle and rabbit which are capable of carrying a carrot from point A to point B, you always have to choose the turtle, because the rabbit can brake a leg hurrying for the deliver :D Haha, no bad feelings, i just want my kids to live in better world, one without HIV, cancer, had bad experience with malaria, etc. |

And you do know that there is a project that works on just Malaria, right? http://malariacontrol.net/ |

Ahh I see, you just need more pc's then! that is why I now have 14 pc's here at home all crunching. I wanted to contribute to different projects and sharing on one pc didn't cut it for me. Right now though almost all of them are on just a few projects, so I am contributing alot to a few. |

That's all i can afford in the moment :) |

Just keep on crunching! |
