I do still believe in the idea of Seti, I have just lost all faith in the current people in charge to have any clue of how to make it all work. I just can't see how with that many stars out there there isn't some kind of life too! And if there are, so what? It will have been the same 100 years ago and 100 years forward? The confirmation of anything in that sphere wouldn't help anything and is more likely to be a distraction from other more important things. Meanwhile, research in the various medical DC projects leads to discoveries that form a new understanding and can't be unlearned. Carl Sagan once said... Did he really... (yawn). |

It is not a matter of "we will answer, or get in touch with the alien". It is a matter of "Yes, there is something or somewhat outside". But, i think medical DC projects are worth to crunch as well. This is why i have accounts for Rosetta, Docking and Superlinkattechnion. |

It is not a matter of "we will answer, or get in touch with the alien". It is a matter of "Yes, there is something or somewhat outside". I could kind of guess that. At school I was kind of interested, reading various books, and I've been to talks given by various people (Patrick Moore through RI Christmas lectures by Sagan and others] and it all rather fell down on the 'so what?' point. I've heard many answers to the question and none of them amounted to more than a hill of beans. Sorry. |

If they are, and we can communicate with them, we may discover that 100 years ago and 100 years forward are the same. We may also discover cures to disease. |

It is also a matter of learning that 'we are not alone' and that there may be 'beings' from other Planets that maybe more advanced or maybe even less advanced than we are. The mere 'proof of life' outside our own Planet will be a HUGE thing when it is proven! As for crunching for many Projects, I think most of us have if we have been crunching for awhile now. |

But do you really think the 'caveman' is gone, or did he just get assimilated into the new group he met? Sure I guess there were battles over territory, wives, food, etc, etc, etc. But in the end I would bet that we all have a little caveman in us. |

I am not 100% sure, that, if we find an alien signal "and get in touch with them", that these aliens are much more intelligent then us. Maybe they can learn anything from us. Perhaps we can be used as a bad example. |

If they are, and we can communicate with them, we may discover that 100 years ago and 100 years forward are the same. We may also discover cures to disease. Or not. They may decide it's best not to artificially advance us beyond what we're ready to discover. So what? The mere 'proof of life' outside our own Planet will be a HUGE thing when it is proven! Will it? I could guess there's some form of life elsewhere. I don't feel any better or worse for that. It still seems a distraction. |

Not according to the 'strange lights in the sky' around Mexico City's main airport! There have been ALOT of goings on in the last few years, one even of a reported physical encounter with a UFO. Apparently it is happening on almost a daily basis. The airplanes are having some serious electrical issues with instruments going out and many, MANY photos and movies of the UFO's have been taken. Nothing showing up on radar though, so that is why very little of it is hitting the mainstream news. They are moving in non random directions, even making patterns in the sky and then reforming to make other far different patterns. The 'Officials' have been investigating for quite some time now but have not made any 'Official' statements. |

Not according to the 'strange lights in the sky' around Mexico City's main airport!... Please tell me you're joking, Mikey. Please. People can't work out what's going on above their own heads but the Seti project is trying to divine something from 'noise' originating 100 light years away? Are you even listening to yourself? I like reading your posts and frequently agree with you, but sometimes it takes a friendly voice just to point out how ridiculous some things are. |

Not according to the 'strange lights in the sky' around Mexico City's main airport!... Yes I am listening, and I have not personally seen anything around Mexico City, I live on the East Coast of the US and have never been there, but there was a show on tv about it the other day. Yes Seti is all about the 'noise' but the comment made here was "I wouldn't worry about it. Possibly a conundrum for your great great grandchildren." and my post was to show that it may not be quite that long before the 'little green men' are here. |

...my post was to show that it may not be quite that long before the 'little green men' are here. Redirect a million Seti users to the night sky above Mexico and we should have something by the end of the week, don't you think? MiB was a comedy y'know. |

Has there been seismic activity in the area as this can produce atmospheric lights? |

Has there been seismic activity in the area as this can produce atmospheric lights? Not to my knowledge. The 'activity' was a series of about 20 to 30 different objects that seemed to take on different geometric patterns with the different objects re-aligning themselves periodically. The speed that they moved and the formations they formed were not possible with any known aircraft. In some cases they were literally inches apart, in other cases they seemed to accelerate and stop with such speed that no aircraft known can duplicate. Yes in some cases they seemed to be lazily cruising around but in others they accelerated at tremendous speeds and then stopped on a dime and gave 9 1/2 cents change! I mean literally zooming and then stopped dead in mid air!! Here is a link to one shot of a group of them, it is blurry and the 'craft' are at quite a distance http://www.rense.com/general66/sant.htm Here is another Mexico City sighting http://www.rense.com/ufo/mexufo1.htm this one is in motion and a loop http://jman5.com/mexufo.htm Am I saying ANY of this is true, NO but I am saying IF it is it may not be generations before we find out the truth one way or the other! Also NONE of the links above are of the more recent sightings. |

Good grief... |

Us not understanding it may have been the reason they flew away, or it could have all been a hoax and it was a gang symbol! |
