It's all my fault. I sent the email. I am the porn spam king as well. I also am the one to change threads, cancel threads, and make up threads to make others look guilty.

There is an issue here that is between one person and another. I don't think it correct to come into a common thread to have it out with some one.

I know that North America is really in to reality TV and all that drama hoo haa nonsense, but this is not that and we really don't want to have a little you said I said thing going on.

This is a common thread for general discussions not personal issues and the age old who's right game.

Take it up in private or consider yourselves rude. This isn't a public issue. Drop the drama, come join me for a cup of tea and lets all get on with crunching to save lives (not shorten them by moaning).

Does anyone know how to clean up the view of pcs? I redid my network and renamed two of my machines to reflect their new rank/job, if you will, and the old name is just hanging out. Also, I lost two P4's here at work and those entries are now just cluttering up the view as well.

I just don't want to have a bunch of dead pcs sitting out there. A false positive if you will. =)

Not sure Todd. Actually, I don't think it's so much me as it is the people that I am coming in contact with. I am having a really easy time getting people fired up about this. I've said it before and I'll say it again, as soon as I say Berkely people jump onboard.

Me personally, I only have 3 machines running this at home as compared to 5 for FaD. Sold 2 of them to help cut down on the energy bill. =) So everything you see in my list, well almost everything, are family and friends who are willing to help out. Trust me Todd I tried selling FaD but was unable to get people onboard and I think it was because it was located in the UK. Unknown territory to a lot of people over hear.

I am a fortunate person who has a lot of good people in my life who are willing to listen and take part in something that I am pumped up about. I haven't written this anywhere but once I saw what FaD did I wanted to do my part as I have lost 3 family memebers to cancer and if letting my pcs run can help why not. That is my motivating factor I guess.

Anyway, come on Todd I know you have more cpus you can dish out. =) Fire'em up!

Hey you guys know about the extent of what I have in websites and my hobbies..

Is a quad opteron board overkill? would I even ever use the third and forth chip even if I hosted my own stuff?

I know in linux I can assign different processes to different chips.. But on windows server you cannot do that right?


I was talking to a co-worker today, he thinks a quad would be an extra 1200-1400$ waste for me.. I think he may be right..

any thoughts?

I would agree legman. We have a new HP server here at work with a 64 dual core Opteron. We are running a SQL db and a few other things on the single chip. We have room for another but we have no need for it as we are not even coming close to pushing this thing.
