Message 4463 - Posted: 27 Nov 2005, 16:31:06 UTC - in response to Message 4451.

Now I'm thinking of downgrading to 5.2.6 to get BoincView working again! ("Install underneath"?)

As I said over ad FAD TT, Boincview is working with 5.2.12 ... Just install the latest beta....

And If You're downgrading don't forget to delete "gui_rpc_auth.cfg" before....

Teddies....

...I reset the memory preference to yes...

Mags That's General Preferences, Leave Applications in Memory while Pre-empted you mean, right? Just in case somebody else runs into the same problem.

Yes Twinkletoes, but since I upgraded and changed that preference almost together I can't say for sure which is/or both are, essential to fixing the problem.

Ok - I am going to move the forum to www.fadbeens.co.uk
I have redirected www.teambeos.co.uk to point to the new site too.
Once I get my instructions through I will comence operations
You can still use the old forum for the time being 'till I gets the new place working - Hopefully we won't loose anything :)

Please reduce the evil influence as you have blown up Angelcities. Even the graphics on their own webpages are broken.

i was planning an all out run at FaD before i moved house, with the idea of regaining my world rank No 10 place but the lost time moving and the long term shutdown of some boxes until i can make more room for them means that i will probably end up in 11th or 12th place..........so what the hell, i have one running rosetta and will gradually move the others over in the coming 19 days, as time and memory upgrades allow, also on dial up it takes around 2 hours to load rosetta even after i load boink from a removable drive.

i'm still only 12 way through unpacking after the move, and have not cleared the garage at the old house yet

The BOINC that downloaded as a couple of days ago as a default [I guess] was 5.2.8. At any rate that's the version this non tech type ended up with. It seems to be working fine, so I'm not going to mess with it. Will new versions download automatically or do I [old FAD pun] have to THINK? <grin>

Better finish that house move before you get creative, hobsie. <Kiss, smooch, etc>

Thanks for the upgrade info people. I had assumed it upgraded automatically, perhaps it does when I install manually over the top!!

Morning all.

GP - I wouldn't worry. If the version you've got is good enough for you, stick with it. We'll probably be up in version 5.2.20 by the end of the week!

New versions do not download automatically. Fortunately. (Everything above 5.2.7 has caused me problems with BoincView, but that's just me and another kettle of fish.)

Right. I'll depend on y'all to tell me when I absolutely, positively need a new version on pain of blue screen of death. Otherwise I'm leaving well enough alone as I actually do w*rk on my machine. Crunching seems happy and it's not interfering with the RL programs, so leaving it.

I am just using the one I downloaded when we started i.e. 5.2.6
Looks like it's working ok! I will upgrade it when it looks like it isn't working anymore! Had a funny (strange) error today though on my Win ME system! Something about a 0 result and I may have to reset if it happens again!

Morning/Evening Pixers
Good stats nasher:ok:

New forum update - They have sent me all the ftp info I need to use the webspace but.....Although I can see it....It won't let me upload anything!
Looking good though as I have negotiated more bandwidth than they advertise for no extra cash :) - So Cool!!! - The help link they sent me doesn't work...So I hope that isn't a sign of things to come.

Keep an eye on http://www.fadbeens.co.uk and you will see when evil operations commence... :)
