Hi. It would be wonderful if someone knew a solution to this: I have installed BOINC on a virtual Linux server (first boinc_5.4.11_i686-pc-linux-gnu.sh , later boinc_5.8.15_i686-pc-linux-gnu.sh both are dropping WUs with error 131) to participate in the Rosetta@Home project but all WUs are constantly failing. I am starting the process with "./boing" without starting the BOING manager. I only have SSH access to the server, so I don't want any graphics appearing. While the process in the command line looks ok (at least to me), the WUs seem to be canceled and the details report a "client error". While the command line in SSH reads like: ############################# 2007-03-28 00:40:30 [rosetta@home] Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 509] 2007-03-28 00:40:30 [rosetta@home] Deferring communication for 4 min 2 sec 2007-03-28 00:40:30 [rosetta@home] Reason: requested by project 2007-03-28 00:40:32 [rosetta@home] [file_xfer] Started download of file 1l2x_.fasta.gz 2007-03-28 00:40:32 [rosetta@home] [file_xfer] Started download of file 1l2x__1ffk.fragments.gz 2007-03-28 00:40:35 [rosetta@home] [file_xfer] Finished download of file 1l2x_.fasta.gz 2007-03-28 00:40:35 [rosetta@home] [file_xfer] Throughput 44 bytes/sec 2007-03-28 00:40:35 [rosetta@home] [file_xfer] Started download of file 1l2x_RNA.pdb.gz 2007-03-28 00:40:36 [rosetta@home] [file_xfer] Finished download of file 1l2x_RNA.pdb.gz 2007-03-28 00:40:36 [rosetta@home] [file_xfer] Throughput 20494 bytes/sec 2007-03-28 00:40:36 [rosetta@home] [file_xfer] Started download of file rna.description.txt 2007-03-28 00:40:37 [rosetta@home] [file_xfer] Finished download of file rna.description.txt 2007-03-28 00:40:37 [rosetta@home] [file_xfer] Throughput 141 bytes/sec 2007-03-28 00:40:40 [rosetta@home] [file_xfer] Finished download of file 1l2x__1ffk.fragments.gz 2007-03-28 00:40:40 [rosetta@home] [file_xfer] Throughput 153815 bytes/sec 2007-03-28 00:40:41 [rosetta@home] Starting 1l2x__BOINC_INCREASE_CYCLES10_RNA_ABINITIO-1l2x_-_1620_8713_0 2007-03-28 00:40:41 [rosetta@home] Starting task 1l2x__BOINC_INCREASE_CYCLES10_RNA_ABINITIO-1l2x_-_1620_8713_0 using rosetta version 554 2007-03-28 00:40:53 [rosetta@home] Computation for task 1l2x__BOINC_INCREASE_CYCLES10_RNA_ABINITIO-1l2x_-_1620_8713_0 finished 2007-03-28 00:40:53 [rosetta@home] Output file 1l2x__BOINC_INCREASE_CYCLES10_RNA_ABINITIO-1l2x_-_1620_8713_0_0 for task 1l2x__BOINC_INCREASE_CYCLES10_RNA_ABINITIO-1l2x_-_1620_8713_0 absent 2007-03-28 00:44:37 [rosetta@home] Sending scheduler request: To fetch work 2007-03-28 00:44:37 [rosetta@home] Requesting 8640 seconds of new work, and reporting 1 completed tasks 2007-03-28 00:44:42 [rosetta@home] Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 509] ############################# the result page (https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=69898446) reports a compute error and thhttps://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=69898446 log reads: ############################# <core_client_version>5.8.15</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> process exited with code 131 (0x83) </message> <stderr_txt> Graphics are disabled due to configuration... terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::bad_alloc' what(): St9bad_alloc SIGABRT: abort called Stack trace (25 frames): [0x8c1078b] [0x8c0b5dc] [0x8c7af68] [0x8c7b424] [0x8c68c5b] [0x8c6606d] [0x8c660a2] [0x8c65cd3] [0x8c6574c] [0x8c67b51] [0x83fb17c] [0x83f8a22] [0x83fba2c] [0x84b290a] [0x85151de] [0x8519aea] [0x882c936] [0x88939f9] [0x8895d51] [0x8861380] [0x852e886] [0x864db1c] [0x864dc39] [0x8c74364] [0x8048111] Exiting... </stderr_txt> ]]> ############################# The CPU of the server (computer ID: 452014) is detected as follows: ----------------------------- GenuineIntel Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 2.80GHz [fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm syscall nx lm pni monitor ds_cpl cid cx16 xtpr] ----------------------------- Not a single copmutation was successful so far. Has anyone got a hint why this might be happening? I read something that error code 131 was often produced by some older client or that it may be graphic related. Is it trying to produce some graphical feedback maybe and fails to do so due to lack of any xserver or something? |

I'm having the same issue. I'm running kubuntu 7.04 and using an app_info to use the latest built linux client. I have yet to succcessfully complete a single work unit. https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/results.php?userid=165650 |
