On the Boinc home page one can read in the News section: "November 7, 2006 We are preparing to release client software with a new GUI that is simpler ...". Well I hope that it is not going to be like an interface such as the United Devices interface which gives very little information on what is going on with work units, servers communication and very little choice on how to choose work. Such a limited interface does not build confidence in the security of a program that communicates freely on the net, contrary to BOINC's. The present information by BOINC is very good and furthermore gives flexibility to the participant for managing work. May be the interface could be made easier to navigate and more engaging graphically but the functions should not be changed, except for adding a CPU throttle (at the expense of more time for each work when set low). If it works don't try and fix it! |

On the Boinc home page one can read in the News section: Actually it is a WCG style interface as it aims to simplify the interface. It's called the BOINC Simple GUI. It does add local prefrences settings (and yes one is throttling) These have been available for a while though. The normal boinc gui is still there and they have not done much to it, yet.... Goto the BOINC download page and grab 5.7.x series to test it out. Simple GUI is access though FILE -> Simple View http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php Team mauisun.org |
