I'm running Windows XP Pro, AMD FX60 dual core. Just started using Rosetta 5.16 and when I move the mouse to end the screen saver, I get the Windows msg, Rosetta has encountered a problem and must be shut down. Then my work units are trashed. The app runs one WU per core simultaneously, and I end up with 2 BOINC managers in my system tray. This doesn't seem right since one manager lists all tasks currently running. Any ideas? |

Sounds like you've got two issues. 1) WU crashed They are working to fix a problem some people are having when displaying the graphics. 2) BOINC icon appears twice in the systray. How do you start BOINC? Right at the startup of the PC? Or do you run it as a service? ...or perhaps both? Is BOINC in your Windows startup folder? Add this signature to your EMail: Running Microsoft's "System Idle Process" will never help cure cancer, AIDS nor Alzheimer's. But running Rosetta@home just might! https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ |

For whatever reason, now I'm only seeing one instance of the BOINC manager in my system tray. There were two after several reboots previously, so I don't know what changed. BOINC starts automatically at startup and is in the startup folder, to answer your question. I have deleted the screen saver from the desktop config to avoid the Rosetta shutdown issue, no big deal as I'm happy with manually displaying the graphics from the manager when I want to. I have power management set to shut down the monitor after one hr, so I really don't need the screen saver anyway. Thank you so much for the assistance, but we'll see how it goes from here with things the way they are. I'll update the thread if I happen to see multiple managers in the system tray again... Best regards, Neil |
