Hello There, I'm from Team Ninja, I havent uploaded any units yet, nor have I downloaded the client(but I will) I was just wondering if there was any optimised "patches" for Rosetta. The ones like the seti clients Rusty - - - - Rusty - - - - DC-Vault Team Ninja's DC-Vault Click Link Here |

I was just wondering if there was any optimised "patches" for Rosetta. The ones like the seti clients No. That was some discussion a while back about release code but the admins decided against it, so far. |

Thats great, thank you for the info. I don't really know what you mean by code but I'll take the "no".. I was wondering, just how long does the average units take to process. I have a P4 3.06(non HT) and a P4-Cel 2.6(non-HT)? It's ok if you don't know Rusty - - - - Rusty - - - - DC-Vault Team Ninja's DC-Vault Click Link Here |

... I don't really know what you mean by code ... Seti@home released the source code to their seti client (C/C++ program code). So people have taken that source code and modified it, creating optimized client for different platforms (windows, linux, alpha, free-bsd, solaris, hp, etc). Rosetta has decided not to release the source code for their rosetta client at this time. ... how long does the average units take to process... I have a P4 non-HT 3G, and depending on the WU it can take anywhere from 45 mins to 2hrs to complete a WU. Note that there are different WUs (just look at the name of the WU) which have different duration. |

... how long does the average units take to process... With the new WUs, you can set the run time in your preferences... default is 8 hrs. |

You can also use an optimised BOINC core client, the like of Truxoft make, these will give you a higher benchmark rating than the standard boinc core client and they also provide some useful added extras. So although no more work will be done, you will get more credit for your work, much like a lot of people here, I do just to keep it even* ;-) *actually I use the truxoft http://boinc.truxoft.com/ for the added features myself. This thread is off topic for the SCIENCE forum, and will be deleted in 6 hours. This issue should be discussed in the number crunching forum. Moderator9 ROSETTA@home FAQ Moderator Contact |

And that explains why I could find my post, shame the email that gets sent, telling me that there was a new post, does tell you a mod is going to more it.. WOW! Thank you very much for the info FC...w00t So, If I download the normal client from Rosettas www, and then download the Calibrating BOINC core client (recommended) and Optimized BOINC core client (deprecated) then I should be fine or do I just download first one? - - - - Rusty - - - - DC-Vault Team Ninja's DC-Vault Click Link Here |
