Just took a look at the productivity that has come from the immense increase in compute resources joining Rosetta@Home in the past couple of months. Month to date May is shaping up to be the highest productivity month for Rosetta@Home ever.

To put it into perspective, we have collectively crunched/generated more BOINC credits so far this month than the entire first Quarter of 2009, or the entire first 8 months of 2007 combined!

That's really cool!

Any idea on what's caused this recent spike?

Charity Engine has been filling any gaps in their subscribed compute work with Rosetta work units. They automatically enroll the user in R@h and issue work requests. These users all have a "ce" and a number as their user name. This appears to have brought several thousand new users per day to R@h for several weeks at a time.
