In the supportlist there stands Windows 2000. SO, i tried several times over the last months to get a core2duo machine with Windows 2000 Standart Server running on rosetta. But it always get computing errors on the startup of every WU. So is it now supported or not? ;) DSKAG Austria Research Team: http://www.research.dskag.at |

Thx, i started one, here it is: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=573726034 Since i have some credits on this machine, it seems that it runs a longer time ago, but had it between a longer time on WCG and Docking, but want to bring now one core from this machine back to rosetta for a while, because the projects are more worthwhile for me on rosetta then docking :) DSKAG Austria Research Team: http://www.research.dskag.at |

This Server is running always with local Administratorrights with no changes since 2007. It has still the orginal BOINC v6.10.58 running (as normal Program not service). All other Services that need Admin Rights are running too. DSKAG Austria Research Team: http://www.research.dskag.at |

Hi I thought I recalled seeing something about this before - see this post: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=5978&nowrap=true#73319 Which suggests that Rosetta doesn't work on Win 2000, possibly because of this: http://qualapps.blogspot.co.uk/2010/04/visual-c-2010-apps-dont-support-windows.html The above link says "Visual C++ 2010 Apps Don't Support Windows 2000" - the comments in that thread might be of some use to you though(?) It looks like Win2k needs removing from the supported platforms list... HTH Danny |

Depending on the version of VC++ there might still be a setting to create binaries compatible with W2k (but it is not the default setting!) - but this option has been removed from the latest compiler versions. Afaik. Yoyo lost the Win2k compatibility too not long ago for the wrapper of Yoyo@home and/or RNAWorld, when he switched to a newer VC++ version. Not an issue for projects using Gnu compilers, just MS compilers are affected. I wonder if there is a hack for making VC++ 10.x programs compatible - just by adding dummy functions for the missing ones. As long as they are unused, this would not matter at all - they would just be needed to satisfy the reference. |

Let us know if there's a VC++ 10 setting that we can use to make our builds Win2k compatible. thanks, David K Depending on the version of VC++ there might still be a setting to create binaries compatible with W2k (but it is not the default setting!) - but this option has been removed from the latest compiler versions. |
