Access is denied looks like local (host related) software problem.

I have to agree with both of you. The failure to create a process certainly sounds like an authority issue local to the machine, and yet the wingmen of the tasks failed as well with the other error that Greg saw:

That was from the R2x2 work unit, one of several that his machine has seen fail.

The create process failure was on a ploop4 task, which is the oldest task in the history for that machine. So sounds like that problem has already been resolved. Otherwise all of his tasks would be failing if his BOINC installation has authority problems.

could have been a firewall issue...I just rebuilt my OS after some severe problems. so have been busy trying to adjust the firewall to boinc.

I can confirm problem with R2x2 tasks. All my WUs from this seriers fails too (with same error).
