I've just noticed my comp grinding to a halt (that's an exaggeration but it was a noticeable slowdown) and it was because Google Desktop was indexing my BOINC folder every time BOINC/Rosetta writes to a file. I would assume that this wouldn't happen if I'd installed BOINC to the standard Program Files and ProgramData folders but I haven't, so if any of you have BOINC in a non-standard location and have Google Desktop installed then I'd recommend you add it to GD's excluded folders list!

At my work they have banned all desktops like that because that add-on does downloads in the background, that can let viruses, spyware, etc thru if someone were to figure out how. And because it is always downloading stuff it slows down the computer.
