I do not know where to ask this question, but my new P55 gd65 mobo with Intel i7 860 lga 1156 cpu which is running 8 threads, has a gpu card. From the preference menu, I checked the box which allow use of gpu while computer is in use. However I do not know if it is working or is allowed with Rosetta projects. Many thanks for your answer or comment. joseps:) I turned off my 5computers when I went on vacation. When I return today, I can not upload work. Need work units to run computers. joseps |

To answer the question posed in your subject line, yes, GPU programs run in tandem with code on the CPU. But no, Rosetta@home does not have a GPU enabled application available at this time. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Yes. But it gets shady when you have more than a few GPU's running at the same time. I think the rule of thumb is one CPU core for every two GPU cores. Correct me if I'm wrong. I have run a gpu in a machine with a single core cpu and not had any problems, so it may depend on the project. The new ATI software for the video card, only uses 0.05% of the cpu when the gpu is crunching. But Rosetta@Home doesn't have a GPU client. And yes you are correct, Rosetta does not have a gpu version. |
